ABOUT
ELIZABETH BETZ
Like many of my clients and their family members, eating disorders were not something I knew much about until a family member was diagnosed with anorexia and I found myself on the fast track to learning all I could to support them in their recovery. Throughout this experience I continually saw a need for more day to day support in recovery at all levels. I built upon what I learned in my own experience by becoming a volunteer with StayStrong, a local support organization whose mission is to provide resources, education, and support to caregivers and patients in their eating disorder recovery. I led monthly support groups for parents who had children, teenagers, and adults struggling with eating disorders. It was through this group that I learned of the Carolyn Costing Certified Eating Disorder Coach program and was immediately drawn to the idea of providing day-to-day real-time support for those with eating disorders at a deeper level than I was able to through monthly group support groups.
I fundamentally believe that everyone can be fully recovered from their eating disorder. I am continually inspired by the bravery, grace, and insights that my clients develop in the course of their recovery; and love working with each client to identify ways to support and challenge them exactly where they are in their journey.
I live in Richmond, Virginia with my almost out of the nest daughters, my husband, and our three dogs. My golden retriever, Rhett, is the newest baby of the family and frequently makes appearances in session to say hello to my clients.
In my free time I enjoy tennis, gardening, cooking, and spending time at Smith Mountain Lake.
